To my knowledge, the Samba team is not actively supporting ldap
(the code was commented out in the last version I checked a while
ago).

On the contrary, Samba-TNG (which split from current Samba)
is increasing its ldap-based functionalities, and it ships (I'd say it
checks out of CVS :) with schema files for both OpenLDAP 1.2
and OpenLDAP 2.0.
