Actually, I'm glad you brought this up. We have had some undesirable results by manipulating DB files using the operating system (i.e. by removing files directly). Are you sure that this is in fact safe to do using openldap/ldbm? & Or, you may just want to make a fresh start of it - stop slapd, remove all & the files in the database directory and start slapd again.
