LDAP authentication problem

I, im a little new on LDAP.
I have read a few things about it, and i have instaled the slapd server(
sucess on making queries to the server ).

My objective is authenticating user through the LDAP server, without
have UNIX account's( only LDAP ones ).

My problem is that a only can authenticate with success users that user
services like ssh, ftp.

When it comes to IMAP ( my problem ) it doesnt work.

I have checked the /etc/pam.d/imap file, but it seems fine.

Does any one has any sugestion?
Plase help me, im with this problem since 2 weeks ago.
