I've successfully used both the Cistron and the Xtradius servers.
Cistron (http://www.cistron.nl/~miquels/radius/) has an (old?) patch
for doing authentication via LDAP.
Xtradius (http://www.xtradius.com) has an external authenticator with
which you can do anything you desire!
