Thanks for your reply.

As most of the user are using outlook express/outlook and netscape messenger
to search for people in the ldap server, is there anyway i can configure the
mail client to limit the hop?

With the cyclic referrals, outlook express simply refuse to return any
results while netscape messenger is smart enough to report maximum hop count
exceeded.
