Are you sure that your server supports GSSAPI? Try:
ldapsearch -x -b '' -s base '(objectclass=*)' supportedSASLMechanisms
81 alexs@bernard% ldapsearch -x -b '' -s base '(objectclass=*)'
supportedSASLMechanisms
version: 2
#
# filter: (objectclass=*)
# requesting: supportedSASLMechanisms
#
#
dn:
# search result
search: 2
result: 0 Success
# numResponses: 2
# numEntries: 1

So that looks like a no, I compiled OpenLDAP with the following options:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/openldap --sysconfdir=/etc/openldap
--localstatedir=/var/openldap
--with-cyrus-sasl --without-kerberos --disable-kbind --disable-kpasswd
And Cyrus SASL:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/sasl --disable-krb4 --disable-anon
--with-gssapi
Any ideas?
