OpenLDAP 1.x only supports IPv4.
OpenLDAP 2.x (currently in limited beta) supports both IPv4 and IPv6.

Of course, there are numerous 1.x to 2.x porting issues (LDAPv2
v. LDAPv3, API changes, etc.).
