strange replication problems

Configured master slapd and slave slapd as documented. The replication
log gets populated, the slurpd binds as updatedn, no problems.
However, when it tries modifications it gets object not found.
>From the logs it does exactly what's expected, I do not understand
why slave refuses to work with slurpd. There's absolutely nothing
different between performing the same modification manually
from the logs, however slurpd is being denied with err=32 :(. My
DNs are specified normalized, so that's not an issue.
Any ideas?
