Locking/atomicity in OpenLDAP

What are the general atomicity guidelines in OpenLDAP?  We're implementing
things that could possibly access/update the LDAP DB concurrently, and we
need to know what the guidelines are in that regard.

I know this isn't what LDAP was intended for, so no comments on that line
are needed.
