If you expect the server to do the work for you, then  you'll most likely
need to write plugins for your LDAP server.
However, you may have to rewrite the plugin for each iteration of the
server.

The better solution is to only allow writes by very few users who must use
clients that you have developed (e.g. Perl scripts, Java programs, etc) that
will make sure that the data is in a specific format.
