Apache and LDAP Authentification

Has anyone set up an Apache Web server using LDAP for
authentification on Solaris 2.6 machines ?
Any advice on which ldap module to use ?
I have used the Netscape SDK to build the nss_ldap.so.1
library but had to give up on it because of timeout bugs
when logging on to other servers on the network.

Any advice please ?
