How to store array of structures in LDAP directory???

I want to store a large structure array in LDAP directory. I am using slapd as
      server and LDBM as backend.

Can you suggest how to write schema definition for such a data structure.
      Perhaps binary syntax can be used for that

but will it be portable across different kinds of backends?
