ITS #889, Norbert Klasen patch and 2.0.7

I am wondering why Norbert Klasen's patch for ITS #889 was not in release 2.0.7?

I am curious, because I am running into the TLS problem and I would like to know
if applying the patch to a stock 2.0.7 release will break anything else.
