Thank you for the help. I cannot upgrade to a later version of OpenLdap
because RHEL 4.0 doesn't support it. Bummer, eh?

OpenLDAP 2.2.13 is obsolete.  Support has been dropped ages ago and even in
the case a problem is solved, no new release can occur in that branch.  The
current release is 2.3.38, so please upgrade and check if the problem
persists.

In any case, although the error message may appear scaring, there is no
indication of a software error, so please direct further discussion to the
openldap-software mailing list.  This ITS is to track OpenLDAP software
bugs, so please don't use it until there's evidence of a software bug.
