This is now committed (with changes) to HEAD. I've chosen to have it on
by default, since it's not radically different from the current
behavior, so it'll get tested (in HEAD) right from the beginning.
To return to the usual behavior, use --enable-debug=traditional. Right
now, the new behavior doesn't really make any difference with respect to
the original one given that the new LogN() macros are not used anywhere
yet. I'll start playing with them and incrementally build up the new
logging.
