I found that after running slurpd in one-shot mode, that the slurpd.pid file for
my main slurpd process had been removed, which meant that my check to see if
slurpd was running started failing.  I suggest that when slurpd is run in
one-shot mode, that it not try in any way to create a slurpd.pid file.
