The issue is known (it's on the TODO list).

About problems when dealing with NULL valued attributes,
this can be considered a bug; they need to be handled properly
(e.g. rejected if not allowed by the LDAP syntax they're mapped to,
or allowed without crashing).

About binary values, this can be considered an enhancement.

For either I suggest you post a patch according to the guidelines
defined at

http://www.openldap.org/devel/contributing.html#patches

You can either post separate patches for the two issues, the first
targeted to RE22 code (i.e. that tagged OPENLDAP_REL_ENG_2_2 in the CVS)
and the second to HEAD code, or one patch targeted to HEAD code.
