Library make failure (ITS#2840)

When running the make file to build the dependencies, a number of errors are
observed 
for the library files. The following error message is displayed:

Error[1] libtool: link: only absolute run-paths are allowed

The problem seems to be caused by the loss of the leading / infront of the 
path specified in the -rpath option.
