Howard,

Thanks.  That does present a problem however, when generating a tool that 
generically makes modifications to an ldap server.  Why should it have to 
differentiate between when it needs to use values for deletes (multi-valued 
attributes) and when it can't use values for deletes (no matching rule 
defined cases)?
