Installing libraries (ITS#2228)

I do

./configure --enable-slapd=no --enable-slurpd=no
make
make install

The tools appear in /usr/local/bin but no libries anywhere expect the directory

	....src/openldap-2.1.9/libraries/libldap/.libs/

which is not accesible to users.

There does not appear to be anything in the documentation to explain how to
actualy install them. Similarly not in the FAQ or anywhere else. Everything
seems
yto build okay but install doesn't work or at least I can't get it to work.
