openldap2.0.x / ldapsearch breaking on solaris/sunos 2.6

hi,

things working more or less ok with the 1.2.x but 2.0.1 and 2.0.3 fail on
ldapsearches:

whatever i try, first thought maybe it was because the db was built with
1.2.x, but creating a new one, following instructions, has same result

any ideas?
