ldbmcat produces no output

Are there any known problems with ldbmcat with openldap-1.2.1 and db 2.3.16,
running on HP/UX 10.20 & GCC 2.8.1?

I have an otherwise well-running slapd, but I cannot backup the database.
ldbmcat against the id2entry.dbb file produces no output, not even error
messages.

This used to work on previous releases of openldap.
