	This is caused by the line referral ldap://root.openldap.org in slapd.conf, It was provided as an example for how to use referrals in the original file. however if your machine is not permanently connected to the Internet, it will fail to find the server, and hence produce an error message. To resolve, just place a # infront of line and restart slapd or point it to an available ldap server.
