(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) General LDAP FAQ : (Category) LDAP Enabled Services : (Answer) Squid web proxy
Squid-2.3 and later come with a LDAP authentication module as part of the main distribution.

From Squid-2.4.STABLE2 and later this module is quite capable and can be used to connect to most LDAP directories using simple bind. Eariler versions have quite strict requirements on the directory layout.

In some not too distant future Squid will also be able to utilize LDAP groups for access controls, but this most likely won't be in the mainstream distribution until Squid-2.6. Until then see http://devel.squid-cache.org/
