(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) OpenLDAP Software FAQ : (Category) Installation : (Answer) Can I use the version of Berkeley DB that my system came with?
Depends on the version it came with and which database backend you choose. Most systems do not come with an up-to-date version of Sleepycat Berkeley DB necessary to use the back-bdb backend. While you may be able to use the older back-ldbm backend instead, it is generally recommended that you use back-bdb. See the OpenLDAP README for requirements.
