(Answer) (Category) OpenLDAP Faq-O-Matic : (Category) OpenLDAP Software FAQ : (Category) Installation : (Answer) How do I select a suitable LDBM backend?
Note: back-ldbm is deprecated in favor of back-bdb and back-hdb.
Use the --with-ldbm-api option. Common values are:
OptionDescription
autoAuto select
berkeleyBerkeley DB
bcompatBerkeley DB 1.8x (deprecated)
gdbmGNU DB Manager
mdbmMDBM Manager (experimental)

If you do have one of the above installed and configure cannot find it you may need to add additional directories to your include and library paths.

See: (Xref) How do I specify additional compiler include/lib search directories?
